About Me

I am a stay-at-home mom of two beautiful children. I enjoy waking up early in the morning to read a good book, or sit at my computer to write. I don't consider myself a writer or a poet. I became interested in haiku because I don't have a lot of free time, and its satisfying to be able to sit down and finish a poem before my kids wake up...something I find harder to do with a traditional poem, which I tend to spend weeks working on.

I live on Long Island, New York and I love spending time on the beach in the summer, going for hikes in the many beautiful preserves in our area and spending time with my wonderful family and friends.

I hope you will visit my blog each week to read my haiku and share yours as well.

  1. Hello Jessica,

I thought I'd visit your blog - I linked through from the Google+ Haiku community. You sound a bit like me (though you are perhaps better at getting up in the morning!). I'm a mum of two little ones. I always loved haiku since I was a child, and returned to it for the same reason - it's so satisfyingly succinct. I wrote a lot when I was pregnant and when the children were still babies.

Until last year I lived in New Zealand - and I really miss the beach. I love to hike and also miss the fabulous group of women I was goading out onto multi-day hikes in the beautiful wilderness of New Zealand. My challenge for the summer is to find a new group of women to hike with!

    Really enjoying your haiku.

    Namaste,

    Naomi

    1. Hello Naomi,

Thank you for visiting and for sharing. I think children are so inspirational when it comes to writing. My children (my 9 month old son and 4.5 year daughter) give me countless haiku moments to write about through out the day...they are like gifts.

I too love hiking. I live on Long Island in New York and we have many beautiful local parks to hike in, but I especially love going upstate New York to hike in the mountains. Since having children, I haven't had many opportunities to do that, but I hope this summer to get back up there. If you are ever in the area, do let me know!

Thanks again for visiting. I have been enjoying your haiku on Google Plus.

      -Jessica
